Tour Information
  • The company – whose official name is Productores de Monteverde S.A. – works with over 250 farms and 300 employees. Their daily output of cheese is roughly 1,550 kg. The cheese and ice cream produced in Monteverde is sold all over Costa Rica and exported to several Central American countries.

  • The factory offers a bilingual tour, during which visitors will learn about dairy farming in Costa Rica, the cheese making process, environmentally friendly waste disposal systems, and the community’s own fascinating history. The tour ends as it should – with a sampling of the factory’s exquisite cheeses and ice creams.

  • Tour starts at: 9:00am and 2:00pm and lasts about 1,5 hours.

  • Prices: $10 for adults and $8 for students
